About Us

Dounia Ahmed has been providing supported living services to individuals in the East Sussex area since 2008. In that time, East Sussex Supported Living has expanded to include supported living properties in St. Leonards-on-Sea, Bexhill, and Eastbourne. The team has also expanded and Dounia works with experienced and dedicated people to provide personally-tailored supported living services for vulnerable adults in the East Sussex area.

At East Sussex Supported Living we strive to provide high quality accommodation where people feel safe and secure. Our service allows individuals the opportunity to live in a supported environment, therefore minimising risks relating to vulnerability. We pride ourselves on providing a personally-tailored service and all of our team pay particular attention to individuals’ health, well-being and physical safety.

We aim to enable individuals to develop personally and socially, and to be as healthy and independent as possible by supporting positive choices. Our team provides support to individuals to develop the confidence to make decisions and to engage in activities without support, with a view to increasing independence. All of our team at East Sussex Supported Living are respectful and supportive of individuals’ choices and rights, including the taking of some risks in order to develop and progress. We believe that with the right support, many of the fears that inhibit positive lifestyle choices can be overcome.

In addition to our strong commitment to the individuals we support,  East Sussex Supported Living also has a strong commitment to minimising its impact on the environment. Here are just a few ways we are focused on helping to protect the planet we all share:

  • Solar panels – three of our houses have solar panels fitted, thereby reducing our reliance on finite resources like coal and oil.
  • Green energy tariffs – each of our houses are subscribed to a ‘green energy tariff’, reducing the carbon dioxide emitted from fossil fuel power stations.
  • Green washing tablets – recently we’ve been trialling eco washing tablets and dishwasher tablets. They are eco friendly, cruelty free, and use zero plastic.
  • Green bin liners – another recent change has been our use of biodegradable bin liners. These help reduce the amount of plastic we send to landfill sites.
  • Environmental consultant – within our team we have qualified environmental scientists, and they help consult, update and improve our eco policy. We are constantly evolving and looking for new ways we can reduce our carbon footprint.

These are some of the ways we aim to reduce our environmental impact. We have plenty more in the pipeline and will continue to introduce them.Sun Logo
